Community Centre ready for CPU

Johnstone Construction is the head contractor for the Wentworth Community Centre project, which has reached a new milestone: The Papatoetoe Swaminarayan Complex is ready for CPU (Certificate for Practical Completion). A CPU is the assurance that a building (or part of one) is safe for the public to use while the building is undergoing building work that involves a building consent.

The project was designed to be modern while also blending the architectural appearance of the existing temple, which is joined to the main centre through the link building.

The complex is comprised of two buildings; The Main Centre and The Link Building.

The main room within the Community Centre has operable walls allowing it to facilitate varying conference sizes. Alongside the large main room, the complex contains a commercial kitchen, a large dining hall, four multi-function rooms, a community cafe, dressing rooms, a basement, and rooms for overnight accommodation.

For the past week, the crew have been working on the unique details of the Complex such as the canopy tiling, pergolas and multiple friezes (as seen in the photos below).
