Johnstone Construction are constructing a grass lined stormwater treatment swale on Hudson Road.  The swale will convey stormwater from carriageway runoff as well as upstream runoff. The swale is also intended to assist with detention and treating the runoff through the use of vegetation.

The first concrete pour for the swale’s capping beam took place last week with the second pour completed this week which will allow for the installation of fencing and topsoil to begin.

Following updates to the Northern Connection design, Johnstone Construction have also undertaken the construction of some retaining walls that are part of the Pūhoi to Warkworth PPP project. The ‘retaining wall’ team are constructing more capping beams, putting in precast panels and installing base blocks ready for the installation of reinforcing steel.
