Johnstone Construction's Susy Pryde is a 2017 Women in Construction Awards Finalist for the AB Equipment People Awards
Susy is a problem solver who loves the construction industry and isn’t afraid of pulling on her safety boots and hard hat to get out on site and work through issues with clients, the team or our partners. Her positive attitude and collaborative approach helps everyone get the best outcome from every situation.
Project Involvement and part played:
Susy has worked with Johnstone Construction for 3 years and has been an integral part of all our projects over that time as Operations Manager. In the last 2 years alone she has worked across 8 major builds and overseen an extensive refurbishment and maintenance roll out for BP and worked on our biggest project to date – Lynmore Junction Development in Rotorua.
Motivation and outcome:
Susy often draws on her previous experience as a high-performance sports coach to assist in the upskilling and development of not only the Johnstone Construction site teams, but our sub-contractors and their employees. This commitment to the development of the wider industry is something our clients and partners most value about Susy.
An example is when she helped another major contractor to one of our key clients who were in danger of failing in their HSE compliance. Susy worked with their management team to understand their current HSE policies and procedures, identify competency gaps and helped them develop a framework to meet the client’s requirements. This support enabled them to continue their 5-year development programme and for us to continue in a positive partnership with them.
