Drainage upgrades for the Matakana Cycle Track
Johnstone Construction have been assisting with upgrades to the Matakana Cycle Track.
The 6km Matakana to Omaha Flats Cycle Path (Matakana Cycle Trail Trust’s trail) is a popular gravel path located near Warkworth. The materials for the path upgrades were kindly donated by a local with Johnstone Construction providing labour and the use of heavy machinery for the community minded project.
The multi-directional trail is easy overall however the section contains a short steep section (maxing out at just over 20%) that required improving. The community minded project aimed to make the section of track better for riders (and walkers) by adjusting the slope and making improvements to drainage.
